Showa cloth from the Democratic Republic of Congo are made from raffia cut-pile cloths, woven by Kuba men & embroidered by women with no stitching visible on the back.
Highly prized for their complex geometric patterns, with inventive rythm & balance, they are uniquely individual designs, the Kuba people traded them as currency.
